Rekindled Love

So I have recently rediscovered one of my lipsticks and I love it... again! I'm sure most girls go through phases of finding gems in their makeup collection that they'd completely forgotten about! Or is it just me?.. 

The lipstick in question is part of the No.7 Moisture Drench collection and is in the shade Romantic (04). It currently retails at Boots for £9.95. This may be considered as pricy for a highstreet lipstick, however, No.7 often give £5 off vouchers, so you could get your hands on a lipstick for just £4.95, Bargain!

The colour is what I would call a beautiful earthy nude. For me it is a perfect everyday shade and can be worn with most looks as it is so neutral. The slightly brown/ pink hue works well with my skin tone and doesn't wash the rest of my face out! 

This lipstick gives a nice sheen but isn't sparkly at all, nothing worse than a glittery lipstick! My lips feel hydrated and I would say the lasting power isn't too bad. Of course it will need to be re-applied every few hours and after eating/ drinking.

Overall, this is such a wearable shade and I know I will definitely get lots of use out of it during the autumn! Who knows what other treasures I might find when I next go through my collection. The Liebster Award!

I have been nominated for the Liebster award by the lovely Laura Gale from Lala London. I'm so excited do this post so lets just get straight into it!

I am a fairly new blogger that has realised that gaining followers is not always the easiest of tasks. I can't believe that I had never heard of the Liebster award until now! Such a good concept and a lovely way to spread awareness for new bloggers out there! So here we go with the questions...

1. What made you want to start blogging?
For many years now I have watched beauty bloggers on youtube and searched around for product reviews on Google. I always thought it must be so interesting to start a blog but never really had the guts or knowledge on how to do so... until this summer! I had so much spare time that I thought to myself, why not start a blog?!
2. Is your follower count important to you?
For me, writing a blog isn't so much the case of gaining as many followers as i possibly can. I enjoy writing the posts and it gives me something to do when i have lots of spare time. I hope other people enjoy reading my blog, at the end of the day any new followers are a bonus!
3. What's your favourite film?
This is a tricky one! I'm the type of girl that loves almost all disney films (The lion king and Pocahontas being at the top of that list!) Asides from that, I mostly like watching romcom's. If you haven't watched Remember Me and like to do a bit of sobbing at the tv screen, this is a good one for that!
4. Are you a cat or a dog person?
I grew up with a dog through my childhood so would say that this has made me more of a dog person. My first pet, however, is most likely to be a cat as they need much less work!
5. All-time favourite song?
This is also a hard one! My taste in song changes depending on my mood, I do always love a sing a long to Aerosmith I don't want to miss a thing though!
6. Cosy night in or big night out on the town?
Being a uni student you would probably expect me to say big night out on the town. This is not the case! I love cosy nights in watching films and eating chocolate.
7. Full face of makeup or au naturelle?
I think I fall somewhere in between. I like to wear makeup, but I like it to look fairly natural at the same time!
8. Favourite skincare products?
I must admit i'm not big on using loads of skincare products. I tend to have the most minimal night time routine possible (mainly because i'm slightly lazy in that respect). I would recommend the Tea Tree face wash from Superdrug. It's so refreshing! and a little bit goes a long way.
9. Favourite foundation/s?
I have stuck with the same foundation for almost a year now and can still say that i'm loving it! it's the L'Oreal True Match foundation in the shade rose ivory.
10. Favourite alcoholic beverage?
I would say that I am definitely a prosecco kind of girl. I do tend to like anything else fruity though!

Barry M Sunset polishes

A few weeks back I was lucky enough to win a Barry M competition and received the new sunset daylight curing polishes, along with perfectly peachy body washes. So today I thought I would right a little review to give you my first impression of these products.

Barry M Sunset Nail Paint - Peach For The Stars

These polishes usually retail at £4.99, however, are currently on offer at 2 for £7 in Superdrug!

The colour I received was 'Peach For The Stars'. This is a gorgeous peach colour and is perfect for the summer- it looks even better with a tan! I was also given the daylight curing topcoat. This is marketed as giving the results of gel polish without the use of a UV lamp.

The brush is relatively flat and wider than most other Barry M polishes- something which I love as it makes it much easier to apply.

As for the final effect, I would say that this polish does result in a shinier finish when compared to other nail polishes I have used. The only criticism that I would have is that although this polish last ages on my toes, I find that it peels off very easily from my finger nails! I'm not too sure whether this is a result of the formulation of this product, or if I am one of those people that can't resist picking at the nail polish- who knows!

Overall I would recommend this product and look forward to trying out some of the other colours in this range.


I love Perfectly Peachy Body Wash

I'm unsure as to whether you can still buy this product in Superdrug, however, I did want to include this product in the blog post in case you manage to get your hands on it.

The scent is lovely- the main scent is obviously peach but I do think that there is also a hint of vanilla in their somewhere. After using this product, the scent does linger for a while which I love!

This product would usually retail at £2.99 and there are other scents within the range which also sound tempting such as mango and papaya!

August Favourites- Collab with Laura!

We are both discussing our August favourites, so here we go...

I wouldn't be able to make a favourites post without mentioning the foundation that I have been in love with for the past few months.

L' Oreal Paris True Match foundation:
Retail Price: £9.99

I use the shade Rose Vanilla in this foundation and have found that it is the perfect shade for me, both in the winter and summer. Therefore, I have found this quickly becoming my go-to foundation.

Packaging-

The packaging of this foundation is nice. The glass bottle allows for easy indication of when a new foundation may need to be purchased. The pump also makes it easy to control how much foundation comes out with each pump.

Application-

I would say that this foundation provides a medium coverage, however, is very buildable depending on the amount of coverage you desire. The consistency is quite runny but I find that this makes it much easier to blend when compared to some other foundations I have tried.
Although frowned upon by many beauty bloggers, I personally like to use my fingers to blend out my foundation- not only are fingers hygienic, I also find that I can create a flawless finish without leaving any brush streaks. The overall finish of this product is slightly dewy before powder is applied.

Price-

At £9.99 this foundation Is good value for money. I find that a bottle can last up to 2 months as a little definitely goes a long way. Definitely a foundation that I would recommend trying!


Makeup Revolution Ultra Bronze:
Retail Price: £3.00

The Makeup Revolution bronzer is available from Superdrug and is a bargain at just £3.00!
It is a matte bronzer and as far as I'm aware is only available in one shade.

I have swatched this product (the one closest to my hand) the darker swatch relates to my following product.

Packaging-

The packaging may appear slightly cheap looking due to possessing a plastic minimalistic look. This, however, doesn't bother me at as I believe that the product inside makes up for this downfall.

Application-
The bronzer has a very nice pay-off and on my fair skin tone I can nicely use as little or as much as a like of the product, depending on the look I'm going for (and whether I've been sitting in the sun!) With a light hand this product is easily blended to create a really lovely glow to the skin.

Price-

Who can complain at this price?!


Wild About Beauty Golden Skin Glow:
Retail Price: £21.00

This is a product that I've recently been introduced to. A family friend had a beauty party and this is the brand of products that we were introduced to. The brand itself was created by Louise Redknapp and consists of many lovely products.

I will start off by saying that the products are more expensive than those found on the high street, therefore, I was only able to pick up this product.

 Packaging-

I love the packaging of this product! It's a handy tube with a pump which is easily controlled to release just the right amount of product.

Application-

The product itself first appears to be a very dark bronzed colour (the swatch is the one furthest from my hand). This might look scary at first, however, it blends out A LOT! I use it in the same places as I would if I was contouring my face after I've applied foundation. After it's been blended it adds a lovely glow and is especially useful if you have a tan and want to add slightly more colour to your face.

Price-

I must admit this is a pricey product at £21.00. It does, however, give a really nice result and gives your face an extra glow. I have also yet to see anything similar on the high street.

The swatches didn't do the Makeup Revolution bronzer much justice so here's a picture which hopefully shows the true colour!


Batiste Dry Shampoo:
Retail Price- £2.99

I have always been a fan of dry shampoo and without it I'm sure I would have to be washing my hair everyday! It gives me the much needed freshness in between washes, whilst revitalising my hair by getting rid of the appearance of grease and adding some much needed volume.

At the moment I'm using the scent 'Cool and Crisp' I really like this scent and in my opinion it's nice and fresh. I have, however, read some reviews describing this scent as 'overpowering' and 'horrible'. I guess this scent might be another marmite- you either love it or hate it!

Does the perfect eyeliner really exist??

So today I will be trying to answer the question that I have asked myself numerous times... Does the perfect eyeliner really exist?

I personally love eyeliner, and there is rarely a day that goes by when I don't stare intensely into the mirror for at least 5 minutes to try and achieve the perfect swooping motion. On many occasions the eyeliner has got the better of me and I've ended up reaching for the makeup remover- with just a black smudge being left as the remains of my attempt.

I do feel, however, that I may have had a breakthrough in terms of finding the 'perfect' eyeliner!

I have tried many eyeliners in my search for the 'perfect' eyeliner, but I wont bore you so here are just a few:

1.  Collection Extreme 24Hr Felt Tip Liner

     Retail Price: £2.99

This Collection eyeliner has been my favourite for many years. Although I knew it wasn't perfect, it provided me with the performance that I was looking for. Although not the blackest eyeliner I have used, nor the longest lasting, I always had great control and could create any type of liner look that I desired. The price of this product is also a massive bonus!

The fact that I purchased this eyeliner more than three times over may indicate how much I loved it!

2.  L'Oreal Paris Superliner Superstar Black
     Retail Price: £6.99

As you can tell, I do like my felt liners. This eyeliner is very similar to the previous Collection eyeliner, however, has a slightly more curvaceous tip, allowing for a potentially more accurate application. It's performance is good and very long lasting so there will be no need to re-apply during the day! If price is a deciding factor for you, I would definitely go for the Collection eyeliner as both provide a very similar performance.

3. The Body Shop Liquid Eyeliner
    Retail Price: £9.00

This eyeliner is in the upper price range for a high street brand. I must admit that I don't feel like this is worth the money when compared to the other eyeliners I have tried. As previously mentioned, I'm not the biggest fan of liquid eyeliners, although I do feel that they last longer before drying out which is a bonus! I found that this eyeliner was difficult to apply due to the stiffness of the tip, making it difficult to create a nice curve. The actual formulation of the product I found to be very runny, to the point that it took a very long time to dry. This eyeliner, however, does provide a blacker finish when compared to the other felt liners I have tried.

Score: 3/5

4.  Bourjois Liner Pinceau Ultra Black
     Retail Price: £6.99   

I can honestly say that this is the best eyeliner I have ever tried. Now this is a surprise even to myself due to the fact that it is in fact a LIQUID eyeliner!

If you read my previous post you may know that I replaced my Bourjois Feutre Eyeliner ( definitely do not try this one!). Anyway, this is the one that it got replaced by and I cannot tell you how happy I am that I picked up this one instead. I went from the worst eyeliner I had ever tried to the best within the space of a day!

For me, this product is perfect in everyway. It has a thin brush which seems to magically transfer eyeliner from the bottle onto the eyelid with no effort at all! I no longer have to deal with smudging as this product lasts ALL day, and I can achieve the perfect look within a matter of seconds!





I can't recommended this product enough and would definitely say to all of those people who are still searching for their 'perfect' eyeliner to give this one a go.

Bourjois Beautiful

Yesterday I managed to take advantage of the 3 for 2 deal that was taking place on all Bourjois products within my local Superdrug. Of course I couldn't resist the temptation of adding to my makeup collection. I ended up buying the Rouge Edition Velvet in shade 12 (Beau brun), Colour Band Eyeshadow in the shade Beige Minimaliste a long with the Feutre Eyeliner in Ultra Black.
 

BOURJOIS ROUGE EDITION VELVET- Shade 12 (Beau brun)
Retail price: £8.99


What the Product claims:

 'Bold, matte and long-lasting colour with 24hr hold. It's lightweight, velvety texture and non-drying formula gives extreme comfort that doesn't smudge! From sassy reds to vibrant pinks and everyday nudes there is a colour to suit every occasion' (Superdrug).

The Product:

Packaging:

I am a big fan of this Packaging. The clear plastic surrounding the product provides a very sleek finish, also allowing for the colour of the product to show through. This makes it much easier to spot within a makeup bag and provides a nice alternative to the usual lipstick packaging. The applicator is a Doe foot. I feel like this may be something that people will either love or hate. In my opinion I really like this type of applicator due to the ease of application it provides. I also feel like it works well with the consistency of this product.

Consistency:

I would describe this product as a perfect mix between a lip gloss and lipstick. An added bonus is that the shade that I picked has a matte finish. This may not sit well with some people, however, I do quite like matte lip products and the finish they give. When first applied the consistency is much like a lip gloss and feels velvety rather than sticky. Within a few seconds the product starts to dry to a matte finish, however, remains comfortable to wear rather than feeling drying.

Colour:

The shade I picked was number 12. The only way I can describe this shade is a mix between red and beige. The outcome is a really lovely colour which I can imagine being wearable on many different skin tones. In my opinion, the colour on my lips looks slightly more red when compared to the more natural shade which can be seen through the packaging. I don't feel like this is a shade I could wear everyday, however, think it would look lovely on a night out.

Durability:

The fact that this is a matte shade results in an increased durability when compared to some lipsticks that I have tried in the past. The fact that this product dries on the lips results in very little transfer and I have found that one application can last onwards of four hours depending on the circumstances. For example, after eating this product would most likely need to be re-applied, However, I did find that the product still remained in fairly good shape even after eating.

Price:

This product retails at £8.99. I would say this is at a relatively high point in the spectrum of high street lip products. I do, however, feel like it is spending slightly more on a product which truly does deliver nearly exactly what it says on the packaging.

Final Verdict:

5/5

I would rate this product at a 5 out of 5. I loved nearly every aspect of this product and would love to get my hands on some of the other more neutral shades which may be easier for everyday wear.



BOURJOIS COLOUR BAND EYESHADOW- Shade Beige Minimaliste
Retail price: £5.99

What the product claims:

'Colorband Eyeshadow & Liner. Creamy texture & intense colour' (superdrug).

The Product:

Packaging:

This product looks similar to the other crayon-type products which have recently made their way to the high street. Other brands with very similar products include the likes of Clinique, Rimmel and Revlon. I do quite like this packaging as it takes up minimal space. However, I feel like the size of the shadow stick can make it difficult to apply the product accurately. Therefore, a regular eyeliner design may exceed in relation to ease of application.

Consistency:

This product glides onto the skin easily. The consistency is neither too hard or too soft, therefore, tugging of the eyelids is not a problem here.

Colour:

The shade I picked up was Beige Minimaliste. I love neutral shades which can be used a highlighting tool, and that is exactly what this is! Unlike many highlighting eye products which tend to have a cool base-tone such a silver. This product has a lovely golden undertone to it. As a result, it makes for a lovely product to use on the inner corners of the eyelids or as an all-over base for eyeshadow. This product also comes in five other shades ranging from black to mauve.

Durability:

This product has the same staying power as the majority of other eyeshadow crayons that I have used. It lasts fairly well and can be used to create a really lovely eye look!

Price:

At a price of £5.99 this product is in the mid-range as far as high street products go. There are, however, many cheaper alternatives on the market which give a very similar result. An example being the Makeup Academy Colour Blast Eyeshadow Tints for just £3.00.

Final Verdict:

3/5
I awarded this product a 3 out of 5 due to the vast array of alternatives that are available at a cheaper price. This product is, however, a lovely colour and provides a really nice bronze sheen to the eyes.

BOURJOIS FEUTRE EYELINER-  shade Ultra Black.
Retail price: £6.99

What the product claims:

'Its soft felt-tip eyeliner makes it easy to apply and has a long-lasting effect to give you that precise, bold and ultra black make-up result' (Superdrug).

The Product:

Packaging:

I really like the packaging of this product. It feels very sleek and is very slim. It is shaped like an hourglass which makes a nice change to the usual straight up and down. Unfortunately the packaging of this product is where the pros end (at least in my opinion).

Consistency:

The consistency of this product 'was' nice for the time it lasted (that being the application of eyeliner to one eye). It glided on smoothly allowing for a good amount of control.

Colour:

For the time that I used this product before it completely dried out and became unusable, the colour pay-off was very nice. This unfortunately lasted until I moved onto my other eye and the product didn't release any colour at all! On the same day I went straight back to the Superdrug at which I had bought this product and changed it for a different Bourjois eyeliner (review still to come) hence the lack of pictures.

Durability:

Inexistent! I was unable to find out how durable this product was due to only being able to apply it to one eye. Unfortunately I wasn't keen on the idea of walking around with eyeliner on only one eye.

Price:

This product retails for £6.99. In my opinion this is pretty pricey for a product which didn't actually work as an eyeliner for me at all. I may have bought a dodgy eyeliner which maybe had sat in the store for too long. Although I have read other reviews which have claimed a similar experience.

Final Verdict:

I had really high hopes for this product and was disappointed at the results that I received. I would not recommend this product and would advise that you try a similar eyeliner from an alternative brand such as the L'Oreal Paris Superliner which also retails at £6.99
